BLUETTI not charging from solar? What to check

Open-circuit voltage between 12 and 60 V, 10 A, the right cable, and ECO mode. What the BLUETTI manuals say, with every station input range.

BLUETTI manuals are short and specific about solar. If a station shows no solar input, these are the checks, in order.

1. Is the open-circuit voltage inside the range?

The BLUETTI AC180 manual says your panels must have a of 12 to 60 V, at 10 A and 500 W at most. The BLUETTI AC70 allows 12 to 58 V. Below the minimum, charging never starts. Above the maximum, the AC180 manual is blunt: the panels' open-circuit voltage cannot exceed 60 V, otherwise it damages the station.

Wired in , panel voltages add up. Two panels that are fine alone can go over the limit together, especially on a cold morning, when panel voltage rises.

2. Too much current in parallel

Wired in , panel currents add up. The AC180 and AC70 manuals ask for 10 A at most. Two typical 100 W panels in parallel are usually under that; two 200 W panels usually are not. Check the on the panel labels and add them up.

3. The cable

The AC180 and AC70 come with a solar charging cable in the box. Check that its panel end matches your panels' plugs; most third-party panels end in MC4. A loose or wrong adapter is a common reason for 0 W.

4. ECO mode and the screen

The AC180 manual describes ECO mode as switching the AC and DC outputs off at low load; it is about outputs, so if the battery is not filling, look at the input reading on the screen or in the BLUETTI app. The AC180 manual lists a "PV input overvoltage" fault and charging-temperature faults among its error codes; the code on the screen tells you which.

5. Temperature

The AC70 manual gives a charging range of 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C). The AC180 manual adds that low temperature and heavy loads cut the usable capacity. Charge it somewhere above freezing.
