EcoFlow not charging from solar? What to check

Voltage outside the input range, the wrong port, a flashing solar icon or weak light. Six checks from the EcoFlow manuals, in order.

When an EcoFlow station shows 0 W from a panel in full sun, the cause is almost always one of six things. Go through them in this order: the first two cover most cases.

1. Is the panel voltage inside the input's range?

Every EcoFlow solar input accepts a voltage range. Below it, charging does not start. Above it, the manual warns about damage. The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus takes 11 to 55 V; the manual says to make sure the panel's output voltage is less than 55 V. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus takes 11 to 60 V on each input.

Use the panel's from its label, and multiply by the number of panels if they are wired in series. Panels in series add their voltages.

2. Is it the right port for this panel?

The EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 has two solar inputs with different ranges: XT60 (High-PV) takes 30 to 150 V, and XT60i (Low-PV) takes 11 to 60 V. A single small panel cannot reach the 30 V the High-PV input needs, so it will not charge there. Move it to the Low-PV input.

3. Is the solar icon flashing?

On the DELTA 3 Plus and DELTA Pro 3, a flashing solar input icon means one of two things, according to the manuals: low-light protection has kicked in, or the voltage is too high or too low. In weak light, wait for stronger sun. Otherwise go back to check 1.

4. On the DELTA 3 Plus: too much current?

EcoFlow's DELTA 3 Plus manual asks you to keep the total within 15 A per input, "to avoid product damage". Two typical 200 W panels in add their currents and usually go over that. Put one panel on each input, or wire them in instead.

5. Do you have the right cable?

EcoFlow inputs are XT60 or XT60i plugs. Most panels end in MC4 plugs. The RIVER 3 Plus manual notes that the solar to XT60i cable is not included in the box. A loose or wrong adapter is a common reason for 0 W.

6. Is it charging, just slowly?

Panels rarely make their rated watts. Expect roughly 60 to 80% in good midday sun, less in haze, heat or at a low angle. Also, when solar and wall power are both connected, the DELTA 3 Plus uses solar first and tops up from the wall, so the screen can show a mix.
