Will the EcoFlow 400W Portable Solar Panel work with the EcoFlow RIVER 2?

No. Open-circuit voltage 48V is above the station's 30V limit. Going over a station's input voltage limit can damage it. Two panels: don't connect (2 panels in parallel on Solar input), about 0 W.

Verdict

  • Open-circuit voltage 48V is above the station's 30V limit. Going over a station's input voltage limit can damage it.
  • The panels can push 9.8A but this input takes 8A, so the station caps it. Safe, you just lose some watts.
Cables to buyNone. Do not connect this combination. Pick a panel with lower open-circuit voltage, or fewer in series.

Quick answers

Will the EcoFlow 400W Portable Solar Panel work with the EcoFlow RIVER 2?

No. Open-circuit voltage 48V is above the station's 30V limit. Going over a station's input voltage limit can damage it. Two panels: don't connect (2 panels in parallel on Solar input), about 0 W.

Can I connect two 400W Portable Solar Panel panels to the RIVER 2?

No: Open-circuit voltage 48V is above the station's 30V limit. Going over a station's input voltage limit can damage it.

Is it safe on a cold morning?

Panel voltage rises in the cold. One 400W Portable Solar Panel goes from 48 V on its label to about 52.6 V at 20°F and 54.2 V at 0°F. The RIVER 2 accepts up to 30 V on the Solar input.

Rules we applied
  • EcoFlow RIVER 2: solar input 11 to 30 V on the Solar in (Solar input). EcoFlow sets this limit on open-circuit voltage (Voc), so we hold the panels' Voc on your coldest morning to it.
  • Cold raises panel voltage: we add 0.30% per °C below 77F (25°C), a typical figure, since this panel does not publish its own. At 20F one panel's 48 V becomes 52.6 V.
  • Current over the 8 A cap is safe: the station takes 8 A and you get fewer watts. We count only the capped watts.
  • Max 110 W on this input.
Assumptions
  • Cold-morning voltage uses 0.30% per °C, typical for crystalline panels. This panel's own value is not published.
  • Expected watts are the best case in full sun. Real-world midday output is usually 60 to 80% of that.
  • Some numbers for EcoFlow 400W Portable Solar Panel come from a shop listing we have not confirmed in the manual yet.
